Privacy policy

This policy explains what information Ittefaaq handles, why we use it, and how to contact us about your data.

Last updated 17 October 2026

01. Information we collect

  • Account information, such as your username, email address, password hash, and sign-in or verification records. If you use Google sign-in, we receive the account details needed for that sign-in.
  • Content you submit: stories, comments, and the location label and coordinates you choose for a story.
  • Your interactions, including likes and saved posts, and messages you send to support.
  • Technical information used to operate and protect the service, such as session identifiers, IP addresses, browser information, request logs, and usage analytics.

02. How we use it

We use this information to provide accounts and sign-in, publish and organise stories, show pins on the map, support comments and saved posts, send account emails, respond to requests, prevent abuse, and understand how the site is used.

We do not sell your personal information.

03. What is public

Stories, comments, usernames, and story locations are visible to other visitors and may be indexed by search engines. A map pin reveals the coordinates you select; it is not automatically made approximate.

Your account email and sign-in credentials are not displayed with your posts. Information you put in the story itself is public, so avoid sharing private addresses, contact details, or messages without permission.

04. Service providers

We use Vercel for hosting and usage analytics, Neon for the database, and Resend for email delivery. These providers process information needed to deliver those services. Google processes sign-in information if you choose Google sign-in.

Maps use OpenStreetMap tiles, and place search uses Photon. Loading maps sends connection information to the map provider. Searching for a place sends your search text to the search provider; looking up an address for a pin sends the selected coordinates. We do not need your device’s GPS location to let you choose a pin.

These providers may process information in countries outside your own. We may also disclose information when required by law or when necessary to address fraud, abuse, or a safety concern.

05. Cookies and storage

We use cookies and related storage to maintain sign-in sessions and support account security. We also use usage analytics to understand visits and page performance.

You can manage cookies through your browser. Blocking necessary cookies may prevent sign-in or other account features from working.

06. Retention and deletion

We keep information as needed to operate the service and handle account, moderation, security, and legal requirements. Different records may be kept for different periods; we do not promise a fixed deletion schedule.

Deleting a post or comment can remove it from public view while a record remains in the database or backups. Independent copies, screenshots, and search-engine caches may remain outside our control.

07. Your requests

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or ask to close your account, by emailing hello@purplepixl.org. Write from the email associated with your account where possible. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

You can also contact us about content that exposes your personal information, including content posted by someone else.

08. Security and updates

We use access controls, password hashing, and encrypted connections to help protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

We may update this policy as the service changes. The current policy and update date will be published here. For questions or privacy concerns, email hello@purplepixl.org.
